$660 towards $4,500

We are trying to raise $4,500 to help fund the medical service trip. Your donations will support Bridges' community development work, including health, housing, education, and economic development programs.

My name is Steven Munn and I am a freshman Health Science Major at Northeastern University in Boston. During high school I volunteered at a community club supervising young elementary age children on the autism spectrum for several years, while also babysitting. The volunteering I did with local kids inspired me to pursue a career field in medicine, with the goal of one day becoming a neurosurgeon.

As my first year of college is dwindling down, a fellow NU student from my home town, Jack Lahn, reached out to me with a volunteering opportunity in the Dominican Republic. This trip entails providing education classes for the community on basic health care issues such as first aid, screening as many community members of La Guama and other surrounding communities for high blood pressure and diabetes, and more. As a college student, I understand the importance of learning through first-hand experience. After learning about the community development work that Bridges to Community, Inc. does in the Dominican Republic and previously Nicaragua, I realized participating in this medical service trip was a no-brainer. I am excited for this volunteering trip as I have truly never experienced anything like this, but I am also very determined to build a more just and sustainable world through service-learning and community development in developing countries.

Even a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Bridges to Community, Inc.
